Let’s try this again.

Ok, my first AAR taught me a thing or two. Mainly, I learned not to get ahead of myself. The game with Mark was so much fun that after posting the first turn we went ahead and played until turn six, at which point it was clear that independence was a lost cause and I conceded the game. Unfortunately my notes weren’t sufficient to recreate those turns for the AAR, so turn one was all I had to go with.

Now I’m going to try to do it right. Mark is unfortunately not available so I have a new opponent to control the oppressive forces of Lincolns Federal Government. Hopefully my freedom loving… errrr … I mean INDEPENDENCE loving Southern nation will prevail.

My first post

Hi all, and welcome to my site! I will do my best to provide content of interest to at least some people.

First up will be an article describing a board war game called For the People which simulates the entire American Civil War. Next will be an after action report (AAR) describing play by play an actual game between myself as the Confederates and my friend Mark playing the Union.

The game will be played using Vassal, a Java based program which can be used for online play of literally hundreds of board games. If someone has created a Vassal module for a game that you like, you can play it for free online!
